Two, not just one, but two hand-sized blossoms opened to greet the morning sun. “I have a peony bush!” I stared in disbelief. How could I have lived here for seven years and not realized that I have a peony bush right outside my kitchen window? But sure enough, wedged iin between the overpopulated tiger lilies, is this two foot high bush with dark green elliptical-shaped leaves holding up twin fluffy orbs of fragrant white petals. What a gift! Did someone sneak into my yard and plant this little beauty when I wasn’t looking? Did it get mowed down our first summer here and take all this time to grow big enough to blossom? It’s a mystery and I love it! {June, 2010}

Every year or so, my husband and I get the chance to escape for the weekend or so and, when we do, we tend to act like a couple of rambunctious teenagers. We stay up all night, eat too much, and laugh about everything. It’s always fun and returning to reality is always a major buzz kill. But, at least we have the memories!

When my daughter was in law school at Duke University, her sisters and I decided to take a road trip to visit her. When the girls got together, it was as if they were little once again. And just like in the past, the two youngest girls romped while my oldest daughter stayed in the background taking pictures. These are my girls.

I love to garden! Feeling the warmth of the sunshine while I work in my flower bed is always such a boost to my spirits.
Not only does my garden bless me with beautiful, fragrant flowers, it also attracts wonderful winged creatures like butterflies and birds for me to observe, photograph and enjoy. My own little oasis of
nature!

I used Michelle Coleman graphics from the kit, and after I downloaded it from the contest site, and was searching for it on my computer- I realized I had purchased tons of other Michelle Coleman graphics- so I really like her kit and her design style, and I used some of her purchased brushes as well. i work with a no-kill animal shelter and rescue, and Porcha and other abandoned dogs and cats were the reason I got involved. Porcha was left when a family moved away, and didn’t think she was important enough to take with them. I have several indoor cats that I believe are mine, and they stay indoors, but I also feed, have spayed or neutered or give the shots to about seven others that hang around my yard. I have found numerous dead rats they have brought to me so the are very beneficial, and they like to help me garden.

This is my niece with head to toe (literally) frosting on her 2nd birthday. I just love the huge smile on her face. Everything here is from Michelle’s Wild Hearts kit except for the staple, which is from Kelly Mickus.
