Description:
My son Dylan, 15, is my hard luck kid. Dylan was born with Down Syndrome, and over the years, has had numerous hospitalizations for, among other things, 2 open heart surgeries. He had a below knee amputation of his right leg last summer which was caused by a spontaneous arterial blood clot (the doctors "think" may have been caused by scar tissue from a previous surgery). The week before Christmas Dylan was hospitalized with an infection in his left testicle. He was scheduled for removal of the infected testicle December 23rd. After the doctor left the room I said to my husband "They are taking him away from me one piece at a time". Fortunately for Dylan, the medication he was being given intravenously finally kicked in and the morning of December 23rd the swelling had subsided enough that the doctor decided to cancel the surgery. Dylan was able to celebrate Christmas at home with his family.
