Description:

When I chose concerts as my theme, I knew my layout would have something to do with the Chastain Amphitheater summer concert series. Tucked away next to beautiful Chastain Park and surrounded by trees, the amphitheater is annually voted Atlanta’s best outdoor concert venue.

These aren’t your ordinary outdoor concerts, though. Think of each one as a backyard picnic with your favorite musical artists dropping by to entertain you and your sweetheart or friends. I’ve attended so many concerts there I’ve lost count. But there’s one that stands out above all the others. That’s the night we went to see Seal perform.

I’ve tried to capture the essence of that evening before, in 2006, the year after the concert. And while I was satisfied with the earlier scrapbook page, I looked forward to reviving those memories again in a brand new layout.

Almost everything in my original layout would change in favor of brighter colors and more dynamism and motion to reflect the excitement of the evening. The one thing I wanted to keep from that original layout, however, was the blended photo collage. And that’s where my Wacom tablet entered the picture…as a must-have tool.

Merging and transitioning the two photos was a tedious process for me with a mouse. That’s because I’m left-handed, yet I use a right-handed mouse. Under those circumstances, precision is almost impossible and the process becomes much more difficult than it needs to be. With a tablet and pen, though, recreating the collage was a piece of cake. And I think the final result is better than the original.

For a peek into my process and to see how the Wacom Bamboo tablet helped me recreate my page, check out my making of video.
